I find that New England pale ales can sometimes be a bit wishy washy without the higher ABV backbone of an IPA, but One Mile End have made one that really convinces me to give this style more of a chance.
Juicy 4PM pours an absolutely incredibly colour - it looks kind of like a hazy Berocca and hits you with lovely peachy aromas straight away too. Tasting it, it veers much more towards citrus, all orange and grapefruit juice with the perfect amount of bitterness. It's this I think that gives it the oomph that many NE pales lack, and stops it being cloying too. It's still hazy and juicy like any self-respecting New England beer should be but it just has that little extra something that makes it a beer you could have one after the other of, at 4pm or any other time, which is really exactly what a New England pale should be. Other breweries take note please.
